The first page of my online diary...

Wikipedia says that first of the formal weblogs (web + logs) came out in December 1997. The short form, "blog" was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. Since, then "blog" has been in the dictionary of every internet-freak as a noun or a verb.

Well, I am not bothered with the history of blogs, neither do I recall my first encounter with one. But ever since I came across one, the power of non-peer-reviewed publication tool has fascinated me. The past several years, I have been following some incredible bloggers and have been getting inspired for blogging myself.

There are so many instances that I have been wanting to blog about, but every instance I have told myself "OK, next time. Right now, this other stuff is more important. One day I'll sit back and jot everything down." And that one day never came until 2 days back, when I landed up in another something which I would like to blog upon.

How many times does it happen twice a day that some one runs out of fuel in the middle of no-where in a dark moonless night with sub-zero temperature without protective winter gear? Well, I and my house-mate did. In the aftermath, when we sit down discussing on where we went "not-so-right" and he says "I knew Amit has got great Disaster Management Skills and he was there to work on the situation. So, I was at ease". Wow, that was flattery, but I doubted if he really meant that or was just trying to comfort me, since I was feeling bad for dragging him along with me in the whole story. So, he cites some of my past expeditions.

Goshh... these were the stories I told him long back, he remembered and I forgot. So, before I forget the tiny little details of my own stories, I decided to start jotting them down, this time.

And here I am, writing the first page of my online diary...
